Cadpad at the Help the Hero's

William & Griffin Childrens Window Opening

A TANK rolled into Colchester High Street at the weekend...to officially launch Christmas in the town.

The armoured vehicle signified the involvement of charity Help for Heroes with the official unveiling of the Christmas window at town centre store Williams & Griffin.

A record crowd of more than 1,200 lined the street at noon on Saturday as Father Christmas and his helper elves arrived on an Abbot gun. It was the first time in more than three decades that the traditional horse and sleigh had been replaced at the grand window openings.

They were joined in other armoured vehicles by ten lucky youngsters who won competitions held by Garrison Radio and Heart FM. They had met at a secret location before being transported to the store in style, led by the Colchester & District Pipes & Drums, as the High Street was closed to traffic.
